<p>Chamomile and honey cake with honeycomb, lavender and blueberry pavlova with viola flowers and a classic cucumber and cream cheese sarnie with fennel seed and dill are at the top of my list of temptations at this ultra stylish former hunting lodge at the edge of Rutland Water, where you can choose to take a botanical themed afternoon tea in the stunning Orangery or the laid back 1760 Brasserie. It must be said, the crockery is rather fabulous. From £42 per person.</p>

<p>We can&#8217;t get enough of this absolutely lovely garden centre at the edge of Towcester, where the brilliant café is always buzzing. You can pop in for anything from coffee and cake whilst you&#8217;re browsing the begonias, Sunday lunch, or a magnificent traditional afternoon tea with finger sarnies, savoury treats, cakes, and maybe even a cheeky glass of prosecco. Be sure to book at least 24 hours in advance. </p>

<p>Why not take tea in the magnificent Orangery at the Muddy Award winning Kilworth House Hotel? Afternoon Tea in the Orangery has been enjoyed at Kilworth House for more than 100 years, so it really is a timeless classic. Perhaps former resident of Kilworth House, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, even tucked away the odd jammy scone or Isle of White tomato and pecorino sausage roll while he was here. Rock on. <p>One of Rutland&#8217;s most fabulous bakeries, afternoon tea at Hambleton Bakery is a real treat. There&#8217;s an option to eat in or take away, so you can scoff it at home to your heart&#8217;s content, but it&#8217;s a lovely spot to enjoy the most delicious treats, with smoked salmon on focaccia, egg and cress and cucumber sandwiches, as well as Hambleton&#8217;s unparalleled savoury pastries and cakes. <p>One of our favourite spots in Northampton for escaping into a delightful bubble of serenity, afternoon teas in the Billiard Room at Delapré&nbsp;Abbey are super chilled and utterly splendid and, if the weather allows, a post-tea walk around the grounds and the lovely walled garden is a great way to aid digestion. Each tasty delicacy tells a story of rich heritage, featuring ingredients sourced from the estate and local artisans, from the delicately smoked Bellhaven salmon sarnies (crusts cut off, of course), the Belvoir hen&#8217;s egg mayo and the royal coronation chicken, to the centuries-old scone recipe, passed down through generations at Belvoir Castle, accompanied by Belvoir sparkling wine from the estate&#8217;s very own vineyards. <p>Tucked away on this mahossive family-run farm, the gorgeous light-filled tea room – with panoramic views of the Leicestershire countryside – is the perfect spot for afternoon tea with friends and family. The recently refurbed eatery is already known for its delicious array of cakes and desserts and we think it’s one of the best value around. Expect tiered parcels of deliciousness, loaded with delicate sandwiches, scones and individual cake and tray bake bites. From £12.50 per person. </p>

The savoury one comes with a homemade cheese scone, butter and apple chutney, plus coleslaw, a wedge of pork pie, sausage roll and quiche.
