<p>It’s technically a village, so there’s not a lot in Wootton itself in terms of shopping, though Waitrose up the road is a good place to start for the essentials. It’s 10 mins to the centre of Northampton, where you’ll also find&nbsp;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CxX65IFNAak/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Not Another Jungle</a>&nbsp;a houseplant lovers heaven,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.abraxascookshop.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Abraxas Cookshop</a>, the wonderful deli&nbsp;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/stgilescheese/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">St Giles Cheese</a>&nbsp;and designer boutique&nbsp;<a href="https://32theguild.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">32 The Guild</a>. Northampton is a real place and that’s what we love about it.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-health-amp-wellbeing">HEALTH &amp; WELLBEING</h2>



<p>If you&#8217;re feeling like a spot of brutal punishment&#8230; sorry, I mean excellent physical training, try <a href="https://www.instagram.com/woottonwarriorsbootcamp" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wootton Warriors Bootcamp</a>, military style outdoor Bootcamp sessions led by an ex army Physical Training Instructor. If air-conditioned gyms are more you thing there’s a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.virginactive.co.uk/clubs/northampton-collingtree-park/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Virgin Active</a>&nbsp;at Collingtree Park just a few mins away, which has pretty much everything you could ask for, including indoor and outdoor pools plus a sauna and steam room. There&#8217;s also a branch of local heroes <a href="https://www.backandbodyclinic.co.uk/wootton/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Back and Body Clinic</a> for physio, osteopathy, sports massage and 1:1 pilates. Nearby Delapré Abbey has a diverse&nbsp;<a href="https://delaprewellbeing.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">wellbeing program</a>, which focuses on cultural experiences, workshops and events such as a jogging group, craft activities and yoga sessions. Northampton itself has an abundance of fantastic gyms and fitness studios. <p>There is a community centre and library with loads of regular events taking place, including book clubs for both kids and adults, crafternoons, and several baby and toddler groups, pus there&#8217;s a recreation ground with a&nbsp;multi-use games area.  </p>

<p><a href="https://northamptonactive.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Northampton Active</a>&nbsp;is just a few mins away on the River Nene, where you can go canoeing, rafting and tubing – it also boasts the UK’s first pumped artificial whitewater course. Historic gem&nbsp;<a href="https://delapreabbey.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Delapré Abbey</a>&nbsp;is 5 min away by car, great for walks, coffees, lunch and events (concerts, outdoor cinema, festivals, the winter light trail). On London Road you can also spot one of just three surviving Queen Eleanor Crosses (there were 12 originally), built by Edward I in memory of his wife,&nbsp;Eleanor of Castile.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.forestryengland.uk/salcey-forest" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Salcey Forest</a>, an ancient woodland once part of a medieval hunting forest, is 10 mins by car and has a Parkrun, wellbeing and cycling trails, a fantastic café, children’s play areas and a <a href="https://goape.co.uk/locations/salcey-forest" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Go Ape</a>.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">CULTURE</h2>



<p><a href="https://www.northamptonmuseums.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Northampton Museum and Art Gallery</a>&nbsp;is an absolute must visit, housing the world’s biggest shoe collection. Across the road is the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.royalandderngate.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Royal and Derngate</a>&nbsp;for top-tier theatre and comedy, as well as&nbsp;<a href="https://www.northamptonfilmhouse.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Northampton Filmhouse</a>&nbsp;for arthouse and old school films. Northampton’s&nbsp;<a href="https://www.theoldsavoy.co.uk/events/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Deco Theatre</a>&nbsp;also shows a good selection of stage plays, comedy, music and ballet and there’s an Odeon at Sixfields for all your blockbuster needs.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-average-house-prices">AVERAGE HOUSE PRICES</h2>



<p>There&#8217;s plenty of new development happening locally, so there&#8217;s lots on the market. House prices have an overall average of £400,010, with detached properties, selling for an average price of £479,940, terraced properties sold for an average of £304,842 and with semi-detached properties fetching slightly less at around £299,583.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.northamptonhigh.co.uk/the-nursery-at-northampton-high-school/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Northampton High</a>, an independent school&nbsp;for girls has a nursery and pre-school, where they also run regular community sessions for both boys and girls ages 0–5 yrs; there’s a nursery and pre-school at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.quintonhouseschool.co.uk/nurseryandpreschool/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Quinton House</a> independent school&nbsp;for children from three-years-old; <a href="https://hardingstone.emat.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hardingstone Academy primary school</a>, Ofsted rated Good, has a nursery linked to the school and <a href="https://www.hardingstonedaynursery.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hardingstone Day Nursery</a> takes children from 6 months–5 yrs and is Ofsted rated Good.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">SCHOOLS</h2>



<p>Being so well-connected, there’s plenty of choice in Wootton. As mentioned above, <a href="https://hardingstone.emat.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hardingstone Academy primary school</a> is Ofsted rated Good. There are two Outstanding secondaries nearby too – <a href="https://www.woottonparkschool.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wootton Park School</a> and <a href="https://www.nsb.northants.sch.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Northampton School For Boys</a>.</p>



<p>For independent schools,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.quintonhouseschool.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Northampton High School</a>&nbsp;is an all-through girls&#8217; day school in a modern, purpose-built setting with top-notch facilities right on the doorstep;&nbsp;<a href="https://northants.muddystilettos.co.uk/kids/school-reviews/muddy-best-schools-guide-3-quinton-house-school/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Quinton House</a>&nbsp;is a co-ed day school for ages 3 – 18 yrs, in a Grade I listed, 31 acre setting just 10 mins away;&nbsp;<a href="https://bosworthschool.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bosworth Independent School</a>&nbsp;is a town centre co-ed day and boarding school in Northampton for ages 11 – 18 yrs, just 15 mins away and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.sprattonhall.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Spratton Hall</a>, a co-ed day prep school for children aged 4 – 13 yrs, based in 50 acres, is a 30 min drive.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">COMMUTE</h2>



<p>It’s just a few minutes to the M1 Junction 15 if you’re zooming north or south by car. In terms of rail travel, Northampton train station is 10 mins away, where daily parking is £8.20 and an annual season ticket to Euston will set you back £7,352. A fast train into Euston takes 50 mins. The same line goes up to Birmingham, Manchester and as far as Glasgow and Edinburgh, so it’s well connected.</p>
