<p>The entertainment line-up for&nbsp;the epic&nbsp;<a href="https://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/silverstone-festival" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Silverstone Festival</a>&nbsp;(<strong>23-25 August</strong>) at&nbsp;<strong>Silverstone Circuit</strong>, incudes Sophie Ellis Bextor, Busted (above) and Olly Murs, plus there’s loads of amazing classic car events, foodie fun, a fun fair and more. It’s about waaaay more than just the vintage vehicles it’s famed for (although they’re pretty cool too) and there’s something here to keep everyone very happy for the whole weekend.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-embrace-festival-fever">Embrace festival fever</h2>

<p>August bank holiday is always a massive weekend for festivals, with not just the mighty Silverstone Festival (see above), but a whole clutch of other big bangers to boot. <a href="https://www.shambalafestival.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Shambala Festival</a>, which takes place in the absolutely gorgeous grounds of&nbsp;<strong>Kelmarsh Hall&nbsp;</strong>on&nbsp;<strong>22-25 August</strong>, is all about celebratory, family vibes with cabaret, inspiring talks, yoga, circus acts and more comedy than you can shake a stick at. You will definitely not get bored.</p>



<p>Also happening on the August Bank Hol (<strong>22-25 Aug</strong>),&nbsp;<a href="https://www.greenbelt.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Greenbelt</a>&nbsp;Festival at&nbsp;<strong>Boughton House</strong>&nbsp;is a celebration of diversity and culture like no other, where spiritual meets secular and nurtures everything in between, with music, performing arts, literature, comedy, spirituality, workshops and children’s entertainment. This year’s acts include Brian Eno, Corrine Bailey Rae, Lady Unchained and Dolly Church (yes, it&nbsp;<em>is</em>&nbsp;a Dolly Parton themed Sunday service).</p>



<p>Then <a href="https://www.back2festival.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Back 2 Festival</a>&nbsp;at&nbsp;<strong>Thoresby Park on 22-25 August</strong>&nbsp;is an epic 4-day nostalgia-inducing festival set in the heart of the National Forest. Dust off your glow sticks, dig out your dancing shoes and get your glitter on! Take a trip down memory lane and celebrate music from the 90s-00s era with the likes of Eternal, Bananarama and Vengaboys.&nbsp;Don&#8217;t forget your tent pegs.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-tuck-in-to-some-street-food">Tuck in to some street food</h2>

<p>The beautifully chilled <a href="https://www.bitestreet.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bite Street</a>&nbsp;pop up is on at&nbsp;<strong>Franklin’s Gardens in Northampton on 23-25 August</strong>. Nestling beneath Saints’ iconic stadium, with vendors, cocktails, beer and table service for drinks at over 150 trestle tables. There’s a huge stretch tent with seating for 300 underneath. Well-behaved pooches are welcome and this weekend&#8217;s fabulous vendors include The Smoke Pit, Zampa Tapas, Bad Boy Wings, Gyro Guys, Good Times Café and the insanely naughty Cookie Babes&#8217; scrumptiously gooey cookies. </p>

<p>Catch the last hurrah of summer&#8217;s outdoor performances at the picturesque&nbsp;<strong>Tolethorpe Hall</strong>, just outside Stamford, which provides the perfect setting for &nbsp;Concord Theatricals&#8217; production of Jane Austen’s beloved&nbsp;<em><a href="https://tolethorpe.co.uk/sense-and-sensibility/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sense and Sensibility</a></em>&nbsp;on <strong>23 &amp; 24 August</strong>. The <a href="http://www.lunaflix.co.uk/home/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Luna Flix</a>&nbsp;summer season of outdoor screenings at Tower Field in&nbsp;<strong>Finedon</strong>&nbsp;sees Hot Fuzz (<strong>Fri 23</strong>), Bob Marley: One Love (<strong>Sat 24</strong>) and The Greatest Showman (<strong>Sun 25</strong>) showing across the bank hol weekend. BYO picnic, folding chairs and keep everything crossed for decent weather. </p>

Visitors will be transported back in time to witness the epic Napoleonic Battles of 1803 – 1815. This action-packed family weekend is bursting with living history, battle sequences and the explosive roar of live weapons and gunpowder – perfect for history buffs and thrill-seekers of all ages.</p>

On&nbsp;<strong>25 &amp; 26 August</strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Lamport Hall</strong>, just outside Northampton, sees the return of its eduringly popular&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lamporthall.co.uk/events/antiques-and-vintage-fair/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Antiques and Vintage Fair</a>, spanning two days and featuring over 80 stalls of antiques, collectables, vintage and retro pieces, with food and drink from Saul’s of Spratton and The Stable Yard Cafe.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It&#8217;s Princess and Pirate themed fun day at <a href="https://www.rutlandfarmpark.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rutland Farm Park</a> this<strong> Bank Holiday Monday</strong>. Visitors will get the chance to meet Elsa and Merida on the farm, so make sure your little royals dress up in their favourite pirate and princess outfits for the occasion. There will also be face painting as well as all the usual animal antics, with horses, cows, sheep, goats, pygmy goats, pigs, cows, ponies, chickens, geese, alpacas and smaller animals like rabbits and guinea pigs. You might even get to say hello to Troy and Elliot the hard-working sheep dogs and, of course, Daphne&#8217;s Tea Room will be open for refreshments. </p>

Our highlights include the dog-friendly&nbsp;<a href="https://ngs.org.uk/gardens/tresillian-house-le13/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tresillian House</a>&nbsp;in <strong>Melton Mowbray</strong>, open on&nbsp;<strong>25 August</strong>&nbsp;(£5.50 for adults and free for kids), a secluded garden featuring a range of specimen trees with a natural bog garden and koi carp pond, a working vegetable garden, heated and cold greenhouses, live jazz in the garden room and small art exhibitions by local artists. You can also scoff ploughman’s lunches and cream teas.</p>
