A proud Northants biz at the heart of the local food and drink scene, Wharf Distillery was founded by owners Laurence and Alice in 2009, when Laurence started making cider at home as a hobby and decided to turn it into brandy. Lucky for us, the rest is history and this fab boutique distillery now produces English whisky, gin, rum, vodka, brandy, liqueurs and aperitifs that we can’t get enough of.

The beautifully bottled drinks are made with authenticity and an emphasis on the grain to glass process, ie. they make it all from scratch right here in Towcester in handmade copper stills, with delightful narratives behind the fabulous products. So. Old Silson (that’s local for Silverstone) gin uses botanicals from nearby ancient woodlands. Lactodorum (that’s the Roman name for Towcester) gin uses botanicals found in the open fields and meadows down by the mill race where there is an abundance of wild flowers such as dandelion, marsh mallow, meadowsweet and burdock. Solstice (or sloshtice, as we like to call it) single malt whisky is only made twice a year, with the casks being filled on the winter and summer solstice.

The Wharf brand encompasses the premium range spirits and liqueurs, and alongside that sits the New Town range, which is a more fun and contemporary range of flavoured spirits, including Gorilla Honey Rum, sweet liqueurs such as toffee and banoffee for pouring over ice-cream, a shot in your coffee, or neat over ice, the flavour explosion that is Lemon Hello (kind of a limoncello) and more more more! These guys are busy bees.

They even offer a bespoke small batch white label service, which is a fantastic idea for businesses, charities and even weddings and events. Exciting things are coming soon too, including a tasting room and workshops. Watch this space. And you can stock up at the distillery shop in Towcester or order online.
