We all know that Northamptonshire is the home of quality English shoemaking, so it may come as no surprise to learn that luxury shoe brand Cheaney have been producing their luxury, handmade leather shoes in Desborough since way back in 1886 and are still going strong to this day, with branches in Bond St., Jermyn St. and across London and the UK. Perhaps most exciting to us locals though, is the Factory Shop in Desborough, where you can get your hands (or rather, feet) on seconds and discounted styles from both the men’s and women’s ranges.

Worn by the likes of Cillian Murphy, Bill Nighy and Ant and Dec, Cheaney produce high quality shoes that will last a lifetime in timeless styles, including Oxfords, Loafers, Mary Janes, Derbys and Brogues, as well as boots and trainers. Not to be sniffed at (no pun intended) these beautiful creations are crafted by hand, taking around eight weeks and around two-hundred individual stages to make each pair, as they pass from one ‘room’ (as the various departments are known) to another.

As a heritage slow fashion brand, producing some of the finest footwear in the world, Cheaney’s ethos has always been to promote the ideology of buying less but demanding the best and keep the traditional shoemaking techniques alive.
