At the heart of Northampton’s Cultural Quarter, this superbly renovated and iconic museum space is a design gem unlike any other, paying homage to Mackintosh’s Art Nouveau re-design of the terraced house on an unassuming Northampton street that has served as a private home and a school, but which now boasts a modern visitor centre and exhibition space, alongside a recreation of 78 Derngate‘s golden era from 1916, during which time Mackintosh was tasked with remodelling the interior. This is the only place in the world where Mackintosh’s architectural and interior style can be seen in their original setting.

Visitors can wander through the spectacularly idiosyncratic rooms, enjoy the light-filled art galleries, shop for arty souvenirs and dine in the lovely boutique restaurant where you can scoff breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea in style. There are also a number of elegant spaces to hire to for meetings, events and functions.
