<p>You&#8217;ll find <a href="https://www.thebeautyworkstowcester.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Beauty Works</a> at Bell Plantation in Towcester, nestled alongside a bustling garden centre, popular café, children&#8217;s play barn and a variety of shops and galleries. You can buy everything here, from a hot tub to a peacock, it&#8217;s a fabulous place for lunch and a pootle and &#8211; bonus feature &#8211; there&#8217;s loads of free parking. </p>

<p>Salon owner Joanna Curley and her team have built the business up to a thriving salon, offering cutting edge treatments, colour and styling as well as gel nails and a range of beauty treatments.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-vibe">THE VIBE</h2>



<p>Spacious and stylish, the salon is cleverly split down the middle, with The Barber Works (spearheaded by Joanna&#8217;s husband Nick) having a cool, industrial vibe and the salon having a luxurious and chic vibe. Think high, vaulted ceilings and exposed brick contrasting with comfy velvet chairs, a neon sign proclaiming &#8220;What a Beauty&#8221; (why, thank you) and a glorious faux wisteria nestled alongside more masculine antlers and vintage cutthroat razors on the walls. </p>

<p>There&#8217;s a kitchen/bar area too, where staff will rustle up a drink (and biccies) to keep you hydrated and they even have their own branded gins &#8211; the perfect accompaniment to a weekend spruce up. It&#8217;s always bustling but calm and relaxing and Joanna and Nick have really made it their own, injecting character whilst keeping it super sleek. And if you need a cuddle with your cut and colour, Milo the miniature Dachshund is always happy to oblige. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-treatment">THE TREATMENT</h2>



<p>My hair care regime usually goes something like this: sleep through the alarm and, when I finally drag myself out of bed, frantically wash it in the shower with whatever&#8217;s to hand, let it drip dry in the car on the school run or, if it&#8217;s a really special occasion, tip my head upside down and blast it with the hairdryer. My go-to style is the classic mum-bun. Sometimes, if it&#8217;s being badly behaved and frizzing out on me, I&#8217;ll resort to the straighteners. I have lots of hair, but I don&#8217;t really know how (or have loads of time) to care for it properly so, when I heard about a new hair analysis gadget and treatment that promises to give me that longed for Cindy Crawford bounce in no time (I&#8217;m paraphrasing), I had to give it a whirl. </p>

<p>The Beauty Works is one of an elite clutch of salons in the UK to offer Schwarzkopf&#8217;s ground-breaking new SalonLab Smart Analyzer. Equipped with a near-infrared sensor and paired with an app, the sensor analyses the inner hair strength and combines data insights with hairdressing expertise, promising a tailored experience to help both you and your stylist to understand the best way to treat, care for and style your luscious locks. We (that&#8217;s me, Emma, and Commercial Manager Suzanne) descended on owner Joanna and Senior Designer Ella, to discover just what sort of condition our hard-working locks were in and what, if anything, we should be doing about it. </p>

<p>The process is pretty easy: whilst we sipped coffee we were asked for some details about our hair history: is it dyed or bleached, how do we care for it (see above), what our hair goals are. Next, the SalonLab Smart Analyzer sensor took a reading of our hair, which shows its inner structure and condition. This analysis along with your responses about how you care for and style your hair, goes into the app, which then uses a clever algorithm to work out what the best products will be for your hair type and condition. You even get a percentage rating for the overall condition of your hair. I won&#8217;t confess to what ours were, but they were somewhere between 30% and 96%.</p>

<p>After the analysis, your stylist can treat your hair accordingly in the salon and, as the analysis and recommendations are all emailed to you, you can extend your haircare regime from the salon to home. It is quick and very user-friendly and means you&#8217;ve got a record of all the products your stylist has used on your hair. </p>



<p>Next, we had our hair washed and conditioned before an indulgent Fibre Clinix deep conditioning treatment with the individual boosters recommended from our hair analysis. Then more coffee and a play with Milo the dachshund whilst it sank in for ten minutes, followed by a rinse and a relaxing scalp massage (my favourite bit of going to the hairdressers &#8211; I always fall asleep). You also get to take a treatment home with you to maintain and prolong that lustrous hair swish until your next salon visit. </p>

<p>Now for the science part: the Fibre Clinix advanced bonding technology purports to strengthen the hair structure from within. It builds new bonds through the creation of a 3-dimensional network inside the hair fibre, leading to stronger hair. After the treatment had worked its magic, we had a blow-dry and style and left the salon feeling utterly smug and gorgeous. Two weeks later I can honestly say my hair still looks and feels fantastic, so the treatment has certainly had the desired effect. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-damage">THE DAMAGE</h2>



<p>We had the Hair Analysis Fibre Clinix Treatment and Take Home Package, which costs a very reasonable £55 per person. Treatments must be accompanied by either a Cut and Finish or Styling appointment, from £38. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-muddy-verdict">THE MUDDY VERDICT</h2>



<p><strong>GOOD FOR:</strong> Haircare junkies or anyone wanting the next big thing in hair technology, or those who are a bit unsure about haircare and would benefit from some guidance to point them in the right direction. This treatment is also perfect if you have a special occasion to get dolled up for, as it&#8217;ll really give your hair that extra swishiness. If your hair has changed over time due to ageing or health issues and medical treatment, it could also be a fantastic way to get things back on track. </p>



<p><strong>NOT FOR:</strong> I think this could quite probably work wonders for anyone and everyone unless you have no hair at all. Give it a whirl! </p>
