<p>Chocolate and blackcurrant opera cake, mango and passionfruit delice and a classic cheese and chutney sandwich are at the top of my list of temptations at this ultra stylish former hunting lodge at the edge of Rutland Water, where you can choose to take afternoon tea in the stunning Orangery or the laid back 1760 Brasserie. It must be said, the crockery is rather fabulous. From £25pp.</p>

<p>This exceedingly charming English&nbsp;tea room is set on the second floor of a Grade II listed building in Melton. Inside, the original features of the building include heavy beams and original floors and add to the overall atmosphere. Here, loose leaf tea is served from china pots into bone china tea cups and sugar is served with tongs. only the best. Luxury afternoon tea comes with a selection of delicate sandwiches, pork pie (a local delicacy, of course) or quiche, scone with clotted cream and jam and a selection of home made cakes.<strong>&nbsp;</strong>Bring the kids and they can enjoy one for under a tenner. Head for the Market Square and look for the red teapot on the wall.&nbsp;From £16.95</p>

<p>The gorgeous afternoon tea at The Black Iron Restaurant at Winstanley House includes delicate sarnies, scones, cakes and pastries all washed down with perfectly brewed tea or coffee. You can always upgrade to the Prosecco or Champagne version, plus there are vegan and gluten free options and even a children’s menu. From £25pp.</p>

<p>Emily Armstrong, founder of Mill House Tea Rooms in Wootton, took over the Old Stableyard Tea Rooms at Holdenby House in 2023 and has brought her signature eclectic style and welcoming, family vibe to the place. “We don’t do dainty, we do slabs” is the mantra here, so forget matchy matchy teeny tiny patisserie and think sumptuously big slices of scrumptious cakes, sarnies and tarts. <p>Enjoy a show stopping afternoon tea in the cosy lounge or, if the weather’s kind, outside in the pretty gardens at Kettering Park. Why not combine your finger sarnies, scones and patisserie with a cheeky spa day, where the Caudalie treatments have a wine theme. Sounds like the perfect way to indulge. From £32.95pp.</p>

<p>One of our favourite spots in Northampton for escaping into a delightful bubble of serenity, afternoon teas in the Billiard Room at Delapré&nbsp;Abbey are super chilled and utterly splendid and, if the weather allows, a post-tea walk around the grounds and the lovely walled garden is a great way to aid digestion.
